El Gobierno colombiano anunci\u00f3 un ambicioso plan para controlar la poblaci\u00f3n de hipop\u00f3tamos, especie invasora que ya suma 169 individuos y podr\u00eda superar los 1.000 en 2035 si no se act\u00faa.

El plan contempla exportar hasta 85 ejemplares a pa\u00edses como India, Filipinas y M\u00e9xico, adem\u00e1s de realizar 40 esterilizaciones quir\u00fargicas anuales. Las acciones tambi\u00e9n incluyen confinamiento y, como \u00faltimo recurso, la eutanasia bajo estrictos protocolos \u00e9ticos.

Seg\u00fan <\/span><\/span><\/span>el Ministerio <\/span><\/span><\/span>de Ambiente, los hipop\u00f3tamos est\u00e1n alterando los ecosistemas locales y generando impactos sociales. \u201cNo vamos a repetir errores del pasado\u201d, afirm\u00f3, al insistir en que todo traslado se har\u00e1 con garant\u00edas legales y ambientales en los pa\u00edses receptores.
